Business 166: Marketing Workshop

  • Average Time Commitment per Week: 2-4 hours a week for postings (optional novel readings are not included in this time estimate)

  • Course Description: This workshop is for those who already have written a novel and are working on their submission packages. Participants post their novel's first five pages, novel's first ten pages, one-page query, one-page synopsis, long synopsis (or outline) and novel's first three chapters. Critiques focus on how an editor or agent might view the manuscript's marketability.

    This forum also discusses marketing issues such as promotion, websites, book tours, agents and publishers, contests, alternative publishing, etc. Members are encouraged to trade complete novel readings by email on completion of submission packages.

  • Method of Presentation/Instruction: Weekly posts of marketing package components online for critique. Only one component can be posted per week.
