Business 165: Personification

  • Average Time Commitment per Week: 5-6 hours

  • Time to Complete Course: 7 weeks

  • Difficulty (1-5): 5

  • Course Description: This is an extension of the existing course: B152 Let's Add Emotion. In B152, emotions are described in terms of visualization and setting.  B152 teaches how to add emotion to your writing. You learn what moves you.

Personification is one level deeper, in a sense. The student performs two tasks: Following the course plan of B152 Let's Add Emotion and adding the dimension of restructuring B152 to form the emotions into characters. The climax of the inner conflict is described in B152. The difference is actually pitting the emotions against each other reach the conclusion that B152 describes.

The result is an in-depth character profile.

B152 Let's Add Emotion is not a prerequisite although you may want to refer to it to understand the structure of depicting the effects of emotions.

  • Required Resources (texts, etc.): None, although a dictionary, a thesaurus or a synonym/ antonym reference might be useful.
