Week 2: The Goal for Today: One Great Sentence

Setting goals for your writing scares many writers, especially beginners. Setting just one goal starts you on your journey. When you're brave enough, add to that goal: two sentences, three sentences, a paragraph, a page. You do know if you write a page a day for a year, you will have a 365-page first draft of a novel. So, write that one great sentence. Oh, it may not start out great, but you'll edit, rewrite, revise, look for wordiness, passive voice. Remember to show; don't tell. By the time you've worked that sentence, you will have that one great sentence. Give yourself a pat on the back. You've completed your goal.

Reading Assignment: Setting Effective Writing Goals
